Peri-implantitis is a site-specific infectious disease that causes an inflammatory process around an implant. The management of peri-implantitis should be focused on the control of infection, decontamination implant surface and regeneration of surrounding tissue. The previous air-abrasion method may remove biofilm, but remnant particles may disturb cell response and cause insufficient re-osseointegration.
The air-abrasion approach with osteoconductive TCP particles may achieve favorable clinical outcomes with appropriate pressure setting. The peri-implantitis may be treated in controlled environment and result in efficient decontamination of infected implant.
